HYROX athletes celebrating after racing in Vancouver

HYROX Vancouver 2026: a spectator's guide

17 to 20 December 2026 · Vancouver Convention Centre, 1055 Canada Place · Halls A, B and C

Someone you know is racing HYROX next month. You are going to watch. This is which day to turn up, what you are looking at, and how to be useful when you get there.

Written by the coaches at CrossFit BC, one of Vancouver's official HYROX Training Clubs. Several of us are racing it. All of us have raced it before.

Which day do I need to be there?

This is the question everyone actually has, and it has a specific answer. HYROX Vancouver runs four days and divisions are split across them. Per the official HYROX schedule:

DayDivisions racing
Thursday 17 DecemberMen's, adaptive men's, doubles (men, women and mixed), women's and adaptive women's
Friday 18 DecemberMen's, pro categories, doubles, relays, women's
Saturday 19 DecemberMen's, doubles mixed, pro doubles
Sunday 20 DecemberDoubles women, women's, adaptive women's

Ask your athlete which division and wave they are in, then match it to the table. Several divisions run on more than one day, so the division alone is not enough.

On-site registration opens 90 minutes before the first start time of the day. If your athlete is in an early wave, that is an early start for you too.

Four days is new

HYROX Vancouver ran two days in 2025. This year it is four, and the athlete field sold out.

If you are watching this and wondering whether to race it yourself next year, that is your answer. Demand is growing faster than capacity.

The format, which never changes

HYROX is the same race everywhere in the world. Eight 1-kilometre runs, each one followed by a workout station, always in the same order. No variation between cities, no surprise workouts.

That is unusual in fitness events and it is good news for you. Once you know the order, you always know what is coming next and roughly when.

Your athlete covers about 8 kilometres of running plus eight stations. Most first-timers finish between 75 and 110 minutes. Strong age-groupers land nearer 70. Elites go under 60.

The order

Each station comes after a 1km run.

  1. 1SkiErg, 1000m
  2. 2Sled Push, 50m
  3. 3Sled Pull, 50m
  4. 4Burpee Broad Jumps, 80m
  5. 5Row, 1000m
  6. 6Farmers Carry, 200m
  7. 7Sandbag Lunges, 100m
  8. 8Wall Balls

Then the finish line.

Four moments worth putting your phone down for

The sled push, station two.

This is where HYROX stops being a running event. Watch people's faces. Anyone who went out hot on the first two runs finds out here, and you can see the exact moment it lands.

The burpee broad jumps, station four.

Eighty metres of drop, jump, drop, jump. It is the longest anyone spends on the floor and it looks every bit as grim as it is. This is where the field spreads out.

The sandbag lunges, station seven.

Quietly the one that ends most people's goal time. Legs are gone, there are still 100 metres of lunging, and there is a full kilometre of running plus wall balls still to come.

The wall balls, station eight.

Last station, nothing left, and the reps do not care. People break these into sets of three and stare at the floor between them. Shout here. It genuinely works.

The roxzone, and why it decides races

Between every run and every station there is a transition area called the roxzone. The clock does not stop in it.

This is the part nobody trains and almost everybody loses time in. Walking instead of jogging, faffing with a water bottle, taking thirty seconds to find the right lane. Across sixteen transitions that is minutes, not seconds. When you hear an athlete say their finish time was slower than their splits suggested, this is usually why.

If you want to sound like you know what you are talking about, ask them afterwards what their roxzone time was. Watch their face.

At the venue

Confirmed so far: Vancouver Convention Centre, 1055 Canada Place, Halls A, B and C. On-site registration opens 90 minutes before the day's first start.

How to actually be useful on the day

Pick one spot and stay in it. The single most helpful thing you can do. Your athlete passes the same point eight times, and knowing exactly where you will be means eight small lifts instead of eight laps spent scanning the crowd.

Make a sign they can read at speed. Big letters, their name, something stupid. They are moving and their vision is narrowing.

Save your voice for the wall balls. Cheering during the runs feels supportive and does very little. Cheering at station eight, when their legs have gone and they are counting reps in threes, does a lot.

Do not run alongside them. It is not that kind of event, the lanes are for athletes, and you will get moved.

Have their stuff ready at the finish. Water, a layer, and roughly ten minutes of not asking them questions.

HYROX Vancouver spectator questions

Which day is my division racing at HYROX Vancouver 2026?
HYROX Vancouver 2026 runs four race days, 17 to 20 December. Thursday 17 December has men's, adaptive men's, doubles in all categories, women's and adaptive women's. Friday 18 December has men's, pro categories, doubles, relays and women's. Saturday 19 December has men's, doubles mixed and pro doubles. Sunday 20 December has doubles women, women's and adaptive women's. Several divisions run on more than one day, and the schedule is provisional, so confirm your wave against the official HYROX event page.
When and where is HYROX Vancouver 2026?
HYROX Vancouver 2026 runs 17 to 20 December at the Vancouver Convention Centre, 1055 Canada Place, in Halls A, B and C. It is four race days, and the event is sold out.
How long does a HYROX race take?
Most first-time athletes finish in 75 to 110 minutes. Elite athletes go under 60 minutes. The race is the same length for everyone: eight 1-kilometre runs alternating with eight workout stations.
What are the eight HYROX stations, in order?
In order, each one following a 1-kilometre run: SkiErg 1000m, Sled Push 50m, Sled Pull 50m, Burpee Broad Jumps 80m, Row 1000m, Farmers Carry 200m, Sandbag Lunges 100m, and Wall Balls. The order is identical at every HYROX race worldwide.
What is the roxzone in HYROX?
The roxzone is the transition area between each run and the next station. Time spent there counts towards your total. It is where many athletes lose several minutes without realising, which is why transitions are trained deliberately at CrossFit BC.

If watching it makes you want to do it

That happens to a lot of people somewhere around the sled push, watching someone they know do something they did not think was possible.

HYROX Vancouver 2026 is sold out. The next one will not be, and it will go faster.

We run 16+ coached HYROX classes a week at CrossFit BC, ten minutes from the Convention Centre at 278 E 1st Avenue, plus 4 90-minute race simulations so you find out what the sled actually feels like in October rather than in December. PFT-certified coaches, all of whom race.

Three free classes. No card required.
