Common questions

What should I look for in a gym to train for Deadly Dozen?

Look for coached classes that already program the race ingredients (repeat running, sleds, carries, wall balls, rowing, and functional strength), genuine scaling for all levels, and a welcoming community. The vibe matters as much as the equipment. You will train more consistently somewhere you actually want to go.

Do I need a specialist hybrid gym?

Not necessarily. A good CrossFit or functional fitness gym already covers almost everything Deadly Dozen tests, and coaches can layer in race-specific running and simulations. What matters most is quality coaching, scaling, and a community that keeps you showing up.

How important is the location?

More important than people think. The gym you can get to easily is the gym you will actually use. CrossFit BC is in Olympic Village at 278 East 1st Avenue, a short walk from the Canada Line and minutes from the seawall for running.
