No. Both races have entry-level categories designed for first-timers. Most participants are everyday athletes who have been training consistently for a few months, not elite competitors. If you can run a few kilometres and do basic functional movements, you are ready to start preparing.
It depends on your strengths. HYROX is more running-heavy and rewards pacing and endurance. Deadly Dozen tests adaptability and general fitness across unpredictable outdoor stations. Neither is objectively harder, they just challenge different qualities.
Yes. The training overlap is significant. Both require cardiovascular endurance, functional strength, and mental toughness. A well-rounded program that includes running, lifting, and varied functional movements prepares you for either race.
