Peptides: Everything You Need to Know (and Have to Know)

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that function as signaling molecules in your body. They tell cells, tissues, and organs what to do. Your body already produces thousands naturally, including insulin and oxytocin. The current interest focuses on using synthetic peptides therapeutically to trigger specific responses like fat loss, tissue repair, or growth hormone release.
Not automatically. 'Natural' does not mean safe. Peptides interact with hormonal systems, immune function, and cellular signaling. Safety depends on the specific peptide, dosing, sourcing, your individual health baseline, and whether you have proper medical supervision. Using peptides without medical guidance is genuinely risky.
Some do, with strong clinical evidence. GLP-1 receptor agonists have extensive trial data for metabolic health. Certain growth hormone peptides have clinical backing in specific contexts. But many popular peptide claims rely on animal studies, anecdotal reports, or extrapolated data. The more dramatic the claim, the weaker the evidence tends to be.
