AMRAP stands for As Many Reps (or Rounds) As Possible. You complete as much work as you can of a set sequence within a fixed time, and your score is the total finished. It is a simple, self-scaling format that rewards steady pacing over early sprinting.
A plain-language definition from the CrossFit BC glossary. We explain the term the way a coach would explain it mid-class, then show where it fits in an actual training week.
AMRAP stands for As Many Reps As Possible, sometimes read as As Many Rounds As Possible. You do as much of a set workout as you can within a fixed time.
Your score is the number of full rounds you complete plus any extra reps into the next round. More work in the same time means a higher score.
In an AMRAP you work continuously for a set time and rest is your choice. In an EMOM you do a set amount of work at the start of each minute and rest with whatever time is left, so the clock structures your recovery.
