The Hybrid Games, Explained
Last updated 18 October 2026. Facts checked 18 October 2026
The Hybrid Games is a UK fitness race, launched in 2025, built around ten 600m runs, ten workout stations and a 200m sprint finish. Think of it as HYROX with shorter runs and two extra stations. You race solo or in doubles, there's no elite division, and as of October 2026 every event is in the UK. 12
Here's everything you need to know, and how it stacks up if you're training for hybrid races from Vancouver.

How the race works
You run 600m, complete a station, and repeat that ten times. After the last station you sprint 200m to the finish. 2
Ten runs of 600m plus the 200m sprint works out to about 6.2 km of running, compared with 8 km in HYROX. That means a bigger share of your race happens at the stations. If running is your weak spot, this format is friendlier. If you're a strong runner who survives the stations, HYROX plays more to your strengths.
The format has grown as the series has. Early 2025 events used nine stations, and the sled pull was added at the London event in November 2025 to make ten. 4 Some venues with limited floor space still run the nine-station version, so check your event page. 5
The ten stations, in order
These are the 2026 season weights as reported by Morning Chalk Up in September 2026. The organizer's movement standards are published as a downloadable PDF per event, so confirm the numbers for your race before you train to them. 36
| # | Station | Men | Women |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Air bike | 50 cal | 50 cal |
| 2 | Wall balls | 100 reps, 6 kg | 100 reps, 4 kg |
| 3 | Row | 1,000 m | 1,000 m |
| 4 | Burpee broad jump | 80 m | 80 m |
| 5 | Dumbbell snatch | 50 reps, 17.5 kg | 50 reps, 12.5 kg |
| 6 | Walking lunges | 100 m, 20 kg | 100 m, 10 kg |
| 7 | Farmers carry | 200 m, 2 x 24 kg | 200 m, 2 x 16 kg |
| 8 | Sled pull | 60 m, 105 kg | 60 m, 80 kg |
| 9 | SkiErg | 1,000 m | 1,000 m |
| 10 | Sled push | 60 m, 135 kg | 60 m, 100 kg |
Heads up: weights have changed between seasons. At London in November 2025 the dumbbell was 20/10 kg and the sled push was listed at 152/102 kg including the sled. 4 That's normal for a young race, and it's exactly why you check the current standards.
Who it's built for
The Hybrid Games pitches itself as the participation-first option. Its general manager told Morning Chalk Up that there's no Elite 15 and no fast lane, and that the race is aimed at first-timers and people who want to have fun. 3
There is a competitive layer. Athletes earn season points toward a leaderboard, with £10,000 in prize money announced for each category. 1
Doubles is the easiest way in. You and a partner share the work, and each athlete ticket has included one spectator wristband at recent events. 7
How it compares to HYROX
| The Hybrid Games | HYROX | |
|---|---|---|
| Runs | 10 x 600 m + 200 m sprint | 8 x 1 km |
| Total running | About 6.2 km | 8 km |
| Stations | 10 | 8 |
| Divisions | Solo and Doubles | Open, Pro, Doubles, Relay |
| Elite racing | No | Yes, Elite 15 and World Championships |
| Global leaderboard | Season points across UK events | Same format worldwide, global rankings |
| Races in Canada | No | Yes, including Vancouver |
HYROX's big advantage is consistency. Every race follows the same format worldwide, which is what makes global leaderboards and a World Championship possible. 8 The Hybrid Games trades that for more stations, less running and a lower-pressure feel.

What to know before you book
The Hybrid Games has had a bumpy business year, and if you're flying in from Canada it's worth knowing.
- New ownership. Walker James Limited, the company that ran every 2025 event, filed notice of intention to enter administration on 4 March 2026. Behrens Group announced on 19 March 2026 that it had taken ownership of The Hybrid Games. 9
- A late cancellation. The Sunday of the April 2026 Farnborough event was cancelled with about a week's notice. Saturday racing went ahead. 9
- Supplier disputes. Hybrid Fitness Media has reported claims from suppliers and promoters about unpaid invoices and commissions dating back to 2025. The outlet says it sought comment from the organizer. 10
None of that means a race won't happen. It does mean that if you're booking flights and hotels, buy refundable travel and read the ticket terms first.
Can you race it from Canada?
Not at home yet. As of 18 October 2026 there are no announced North American events. The 2027 calendar is Liverpool (27 February), Newcastle (29 to 31 May), Birmingham (3 to 4 July) and Glasgow (29 to 31 October). 2
If the format appeals to you, the closest options here are:
- HYROX Vancouver, 17 to 20 December 2026. Same family of movements, longer runs.
- Deadly Dozen, which runs 12 x 400m runs and 12 stations, even less running per round. We're an affiliated Deadly Dozen gym and hosted a Deadly Fitness Test here on 3 October 2026.
How we'd train for it
A coach's take, from the floor at CrossFit BC: because the runs are short, the race rewards people who can walk into a station with their heart rate high and still move well. In practice that means practising transitions, not just stations. Run 600m, go straight into wall balls, run again. That's the bit most people skip.
Ten stations also means more equipment to learn. If you've never touched a sled pull or a SkiErg, that's where to start, and it's exactly what our HYROX classes and Cardio Club cover.
Quick answers
What is The Hybrid Games?
A UK fitness race founded in 2025: ten 600m runs, ten functional stations and a 200m sprint finish, raced solo or in doubles. 12
How far do you run in The Hybrid Games?
About 6.2 km: ten 600m runs plus the 200m sprint.
Is The Hybrid Games easier than HYROX?
It has less running and no Pro weights, so many first-timers will find it more approachable. It has two extra stations, though, so it isn't simply a shorter HYROX.
Is there a Hybrid Games in Canada or the US?
Not as of October 2026. All announced events are in the UK. 2
Who owns The Hybrid Games?
Behrens Group announced it took ownership in March 2026, after the original operating company filed notice of intention to enter administration. 9
Can beginners do The Hybrid Games?
Yes. There's no elite division, and doubles lets you split the work with a partner. 3
Ready to try hybrid training?
You don't need to fly to Glasgow to find out if you love this stuff. Come train with us three times and feel the difference.
