The CrossFit Athlete's Calculator Stack: 10 Free Tools You Should Bookmark

The bookmark bar every CrossFit athlete should have. Ten calculators, grouped by how you actually use them across a training week.

If you train CrossFit for more than a few months, the same questions keep coming up. What is 80 percent of my clean? How do I load the bar? Am I actually recovering? These 10 free calculators answer them in seconds. Bookmark this page.

For the wider guide on every tool we make (44+ at last count), see our Complete Guide to CFBC Training Tools. This post is the CrossFit-focused subset of that stack, in the order a training week uses them.

The stack at a glance

  1. Load Percentage Calculator, barbell math for the day's percentages
  2. Plate Calculator, the plates to hang on each side
  3. Rep Max Estimator, estimate a 1RM from any set
  4. One-RM Percentile, where your lifts sit against real gym data
  5. CrossFit Total, the strength benchmark that never lies
  6. Zone 2 Heart Rate, the aerobic zone that builds your engine
  7. Protein Calculator, how much protein to actually hit
  8. Recovery Check-In, a 60-second readiness score
  9. Deload Detector, spot a stall before it becomes an injury
  10. Murph Planner, because Murph is coming

Barbell days: 1 through 5

1. Load Percentage Calculator

Open Load Percentage, punch in your 1RM, and get 60 to 105 percent laid out at a glance. Two clicks, no math on the whiteboard.

2. Plate Calculator

Once you have your working weight, Plate Calculator tells you the exact plates to hang. LB or KG, men's or women's bar, and a plate-friendly rounding option so you are not chasing 137.5 with change plates.

3. Rep Max Estimator

You just hit 165 for 5 on the back squat. What does that project as a 1RM? Rep Max Estimator runs the Epley, Brzycki, and Lombardi formulas and shows a sensible average.

4. One-RM Percentile

Curious how your numbers actually stack up? One-RM Percentile plots you against a population of trained lifters by bodyweight and sex. Useful for setting realistic goals without the Instagram distortion field.

5. CrossFit Total

Every 6 to 12 weeks, run the CrossFit Total. Back squat, press, deadlift, best of three attempts each. If your Total is not moving over a training block, that is a signal, not a story.

Engine days: 6

6. Zone 2 Heart Rate

Metcons build power. Zone 2 builds the base under the metcons. Zone 2 Heart Rate gives you the target range so 45 minutes on the rower or bike actually earns you the adaptation you are paying for. Pair with our Rowing Pace Calculator or SkiErg Pace Calculator for target splits.

Nutrition and recovery: 7 through 9

7. Protein Calculator

Most CrossFitters underestimate protein by 30 to 50 grams a day. Protein Calculator gives you a realistic target based on bodyweight and training load, plus a rough per-meal breakdown so it stops being a scramble at 9pm.

8. Recovery Check-In

Sleep, soreness, stress, mood, motivation. Recovery Check-In is a 60-second score that tells you whether today is a green, yellow, or red light. Log it before every session and patterns emerge fast.

9. Deload Detector

If the check-ins are drifting red for 5+ sessions, run the Deload Detector. It scores 8 markers (sleep, HRV proxy, performance drop, joint aches, motivation) and either confirms "yes, deload this week" or lets you keep pushing with a clean conscience.

Benchmark day: 10

10. Murph Planner

Memorial Day is Murph day. Murph Planner takes your recent pull-up, push-up, squat, and mile numbers and builds a realistic pacing plan (partitioned, straight-through, vest or no vest). Better than winging it and blowing up at rep 40.

How to use this stack in a training week

Print the whiteboard, or bookmark this page on your phone. Rough weekly cadence for a member training 4 to 5 days:

  • Every strength session: Load Percentage + Plate Calculator
  • After a heavy set: Rep Max Estimator to update your working 1RM
  • Once a week: Zone 2 session using the HR calculator
  • Daily: Recovery Check-In (30 seconds, in your notes app)
  • Every 4 weeks: Deload Detector to decide the next week's load
  • Every 8 to 12 weeks: CrossFit Total + One-RM Percentile
