HYROX Training in Vancouver: How to Prepare Without Burning Out
This article is part of the CrossFit BC journal, written by the coaching staff who run our classes in Olympic Village, Vancouver. We publish what we teach on the floor: training decisions, recovery, nutrition, and the honest tradeoffs behind them.
HYROX is a standardized indoor fitness race featuring 8 x 1km runs alternating with 8 functional workout stations: SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, and wall balls. The format is identical at every race worldwide.
Most people need 8 to 12 weeks of structured, HYROX-specific training before their first race. If you're building fitness from scratch, plan for 12+ weeks including a general fitness base phase. At CrossFit BC, our coaches build periodized programs that peak you for race day.
CrossFit BC in Olympic Village is a HYROX affiliated training club with certified coaches who have raced HYROX themselves. We offer 18 HYROX classes a week, including 3 dedicated 90-minute SIM-ilar race simulations, station-specific coaching, and competition-weight equipment.
