HYROX PFT vs Output HCT: How We Benchmark HYROX Athletes

This article is part of the CrossFit BC journal, written by the coaching staff who run our classes in Olympic Village, Vancouver. We publish what we teach on the floor: training decisions, recovery, nutrition, and the honest tradeoffs behind them.

Common questions

Can I do the HYROX PFT at home?

Yes — it is open and repeatable. You need a way to run 1km, a row erg, a 6kg or 4kg wall ball, and roughly 30 minutes. Conditions matter for comparison, so try to keep them consistent each test.

How is the Output HCT different from the PFT?

The PFT is for-time across six stations. The HCT uses fixed time windows and produces a 0–100 composite score, delivered through the Output Sports platform inside HYROX Elite affiliated gyms.

Do I need both tests?

No. The PFT alone is enough for most athletes to set a division and train smart. The HCT adds a calibrated layer when you have access.
