What $300 a Month at CrossFit BC Actually Includes
You read the first article and did the math. Here is the unvarnished breakdown of what a CrossFit BC membership actually unlocks at the $300/month anchor.
You read the first article and did the math. Now the honest question: if you redirect $300 a month toward a coached gym, what actually shows up in your life in return? Here is the unvarnished breakdown of what a CrossFit BC membership includes, what it does not, and how to know whether you are using it.
We sell one thing: a stronger, more capable, more resilient version of you at 40, 50, 60, and beyond. The price reflects that, and so does the inclusion list.
At the time of writing, a Single-Stream membership at CrossFit BC runs from $189 a month on a quarterly plan up to $297 month-to-month. Our Life Unlimited membership, which is what most members move into within their first year, runs from $259 a month annually up to $399 month-to-month. The midpoint, roughly $300 a month, is a useful anchor. Here is what that anchor unlocks.
1. A credentialed coach in every single class
A real coach who knows your name, watches your reps, and intervenes when your knee caves on the third rep of a heavy squat. Every class. Every time. CFBC coaches hold CrossFit Level 2 or 3 credentials, with additional certifications in nutrition, gymnastics, weightlifting, mobility, and HYROX.
The Vancouver market rate for a private session with a coach of this calibre is $99 to $149 per hour. At our highest-volume members' usage (3 to 4 classes a week, ~14 sessions a month), that single line item alone represents $1,300 to $2,000 of coached time, every month, before you count the program design behind it.
2. Programming that progresses you over months and years
You are inside a long-arc program built by coaches who think in months and years, not single workouts. Strength cycles. Engine blocks. Skill progressions for pull-ups, muscle-ups, double-unders, Olympic lifts. HYROX-prep blocks if you want them. Masters-friendly scaling if you need it.
The programming adapts to you in the moment, in the room, with a coach watching. That is the part you cannot download.
3. Foundations and onboarding done properly
Every new member runs through Foundations, our structured onboarding that teaches the movements, the scoring system, and how to use the room. This is the difference between feeling lost for three months and feeling confident in your first class. It is built into every new-member runway.
4. A real community, not a feed
You will know the people next to you. You will be missed when you stop coming. You will be celebrated when you finally string together your first double-unders. Members organize their own hikes, ski days, race trips, and dinners. Several have met their closest friends, business partners, and (yes) partners-partners at the gym.
The US Surgeon General has explicitly named loneliness as a public health crisis on the scale of smoking. A coached gym with a real community is one of the most under-rated mental-health interventions money can buy.
5. Open Gym + Hybrid options
Members can use Open Gym to work on weaknesses, do extra accessory work, retest benchmarks, or run their own programming on the side. Hybrid members combine group classes with personal-training touchpoints for higher-touch accountability. The room flexes around your life.
6. Performance and recovery infrastructure
InBody scans, DEXA + Nutrition Strategy Sessions, recovery tools, mobility frameworks, and coach access for Q&A. Members get preferred pricing on add-ons like DEXA ($99 vs. $149 standard) and standalone strategy sessions. Track what is changing. Adjust what is not.

7. Workshops, simulations, and events
HYROX SIM-ilar sessions, skills clinics, Murph, Open prep, charity events, member socials. Most are included or steeply discounted. These are the touchpoints that turn a gym into a life.
8. The library of you
Every workout, score, PR, and benchmark logged. A coach can pull up your last six months and tell you in 90 seconds whether you are progressing, plateauing, or under-recovering. Most members have no idea this is even possible until they have it.
What it does NOT include
- 1:1 personal training (separate offering)
- Nutrition coaching beyond the strategy session (separate offering)
- Daily massage, sauna, or hot tub
- A guarantee that you will show up. That part is on you.
We are transparent about that last one for a reason. The biggest variable in whether a membership is "worth it" is whether you use it. A coach can program for you. A coach can text you when you go missing. A coach cannot drive you to the gym.
How to know you are getting your money's worth
If you are attending 8 or more classes a month, learning something new monthly, sleeping better, and feeling stronger in your real life (carrying groceries, playing with kids, hiking without dread), the membership is doing its job. If any of that is missing, talk to your coach. Every member has a "no-judgement" path back. We have seen members return after 2 weeks, 2 months, and 2 years. None of them regretted the call.
The honest comparison
$300 a month is roughly the cost of:
- One mid-tier streaming bundle + a daily $5 coffee + one weekly takeout meal
- A single physiotherapy package in November after you tweaked your back lifting a Christmas tree
- One cortisone shot, two specialist visits, and a co-pay six years from now
The question, again, is not whether you can afford to invest in your health. The question is which version of that $300 buys you the future you actually want.
