CrossFit Is the Cure: Why Prevention Beats Every Prescription

This article is part of the CrossFit BC journal, written by the coaching staff who run our classes in Olympic Village, Vancouver. We publish what we teach on the floor: training decisions, recovery, nutrition, and the honest tradeoffs behind them.

Common questions

Is CrossFit actually effective for preventing chronic disease?

Yes. Peer-reviewed research shows that high-intensity functional training improves cardiometabolic health markers including blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, and body composition. CrossFit's methodology addresses the root lifestyle factors that drive chronic disease.

Do I need to be fit to start CrossFit?

No. Every movement in CrossFit scales to your current ability. At CrossFit BC, everyone starts with a Foundations program where a senior coach works with you one-on-one to build competence in fundamental movements before you join regular classes.

How is CrossFit different from regular gym workouts?

CrossFit combines constantly varied functional movements at high intensity with measurable results and community accountability. Unlike traditional gyms, every workout produces data you can track, and you train alongside a community that keeps you accountable.
