Classes FAQ from CrossFit BC. How the class schedule works, what each class is for, and how to join a class at CrossFit BC in Olympic Village, Vancouver. Your first three classes are free.

CrossFit BC has coached Vancouver since 2008, first in Yaletown and, since 2019, from 278 East 1st Avenue in Olympic Village. We run CrossFit, HYROX race prep, Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics, and one-on-one coaching seven days a week, with every session scaled to the person doing it.

Common questions

What's the schedule like?

80+ coached classes a week, with each class type running at set times through the day. CrossFit classes run 7 days a week. HYROX adds 19+ coached HYROX classes a week: 15+ 60-minute classes Monday to Friday, plus four 90-minute HX90 SIM-ilar race-prep sessions on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday. The weekly Mobility class runs on Saturdays, Cardio Club is a free Sunday session at 7:30am, and Living Legends, our coached strength class for adults 60+, runs Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11am. Open Gym is on the schedule all seven days.

When is the gym open?

Mon-Fri 5:30am-8pm, Sat 7am-3pm, Sun 7:30am-1pm. Every class sits inside those hours, so there are early-morning options on weekdays and a quieter midday window most days.

How do I pick classes that fit my week?

The schedule page lets you filter by programme, day, and coach, so you can see exactly what runs on the days you train. A common starting point is two to three coached classes a week, and the schedule page has sample training paths for beginners, first-time HYROX racers, and everyone in between.

What's each class for?

CrossFit builds all-round strength and conditioning, and every workout scales to you. HYROX classes build race fitness. Olympic Lifting Development and Gymnastics Skills Development sharpen specific skills with focused coaching. Mobility helps you move and recover better. Living Legends is coached strength for adults 60+. Open Gym is your own training time, and Cardio Club is a free coached cardio session on Sundays.

What's the difference between HYROX 60 and HX90 SIM-ilar?

HYROX 60 is a 60-minute race-inspired class built around ergs, sleds, carries, lunges, wall balls, and running fitness. You do not need to be registered for a race to join, and it is open to drop-ins. HX90 SIM-ilar is a 90-minute race-prep session for pacing practice, transitions, and race simulation under fatigue. It is for people already training with us: active members and HYROX class pack holders.

Which class should I start with if I am new?

Any coached class works as a first class, because every workout scales and the coach walks you through it. If you would rather learn the basics one-on-one or in a small group first, Foundations is our on-ramp. Or claim your first three free classes and let a coach point you to the best next step for your goals.

How do I join a class?

Book your spot online and show up about ten minutes early. If you are new, start with your first three classes free on the free-trial page: no credit card, no commitment, and a coach will set you up with the right class time. If you already know which class you want, the schedule page takes you straight to booking.

Can I visit without a membership?

Yes, two ways. Drop-ins are welcome at coached 60-minute CrossFit and HYROX classes: book online through the drop-in page, $30 per class, no long-term commitment. And Cardio Club on Sunday at 7:30am is completely free, no membership or drop-in fee, open to members and non-members alike.

Is Open Gym included, or can I drop in for it?

Open Gym is for people already training with us: included on any monthly membership, or one credit per visit on a class pack. There is no $30 Open Gym drop-in, and that is a safety policy, because Open Gym is self-directed.

Do I need experience to join a class?

No. Classes are coached for adults of every age and fitness level, and every movement can be scaled, so beginners train alongside experienced members in the same class. If you are over 60, Living Legends is built specifically for you, and no experience is needed there either.

What should I bring to my first class?

Workout clothes, indoor shoes, and a water bottle. We have full change rooms with showers stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and essentials. Arrive about ten minutes early so a coach can get you set up before the class starts.
